The Eden Project

Architect: Grimshaw

Landscape Architect: Landscape Urban Company

Set within a former clay pit, The Eden Project transforms industrial scar into ecological landmark. Its 5.5 acre geodesic biomes—lightweight steel structures clad in ETFE—house rainforest and Mediterranean climates, cultivating thousands of species under controlled environments.

Eden Project is a spectacle and it is a living laboratory; its architecture demonstrates material efficiency, adaptive reuse, and energy-conscious systems. Outdoor gardens and educational programs extend the project’s role as a cultural and ecological catalyst, showing how design can regenerate landscapes and reframe human relationships with the natural world.
